Karina Albistegui Adler
Immigrant Health Advocate
Karina Albistegui-Amaya is the Immigrant Health Advocate in the Health Justice Program. As an Immigrant Health Advocate, she helps undocumented people who are facing serious illness gain access to healthcare. Prior to joining NYLPI in 2017, Karina worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she helped individuals diagnosed with cancer navigate the complexities of the healthcare system. Karina received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College and is working toward her J.D. as a member of the inaugural class of the part-time/evening program at the City University of New York School of Law. After graduation, she hopes to continue to work with immigrant communities to dismantle the legislative and policy barriers that lead to disparities in health outcomes.
