State Language Access Executive Order Implementation

State Language Access Executive Order Implementation

In 2011, NYLPI participated in a coalition effort to help pass Executive Order 26, a statewide language access policy. Under Executive Order 26, state agencies that interact directly with the public are required to translate vital public documents in the most common non-English languages and provide interpretation services to limited English proficient (LEP) individuals. We are currently working with Make the Road New York and the NYIC to ensure implementation of the executive order by monitoring compliance by state agencies.
