NYLPI urges DHS to withdraw the proposed policy because it would have a devastating impact on immigrant communities. Individuals with pre-existing medical conditions and disabilities are particularly vulnerable to exclusion under the proposed rule. If implemented, the rule will contribute to the growth of the health disparity gap between immigrants and citizens. This rule will result in overall worse health and social outcomes for immigrant communities by putting millions of people at risk of poor health, homelessness, and food insecurity. NYLPI stands with immigrant communities and will continue to advocate for justice. Read the full comment here.
