Junior boards are non-governing boards that exist in different forms (i.e. advisory councils, auxiliary boards, etc.), and are valuable alternative opportunities for nonprofits to engage emerging and established leaders in the organization’s mission. They can serve to cultivate the next generation of talented leaders, build a pipeline for the organization’s governing board, bring additional expertise into the organization, and improve the diversity of the organization’s leadership.
Key Takeaways:
- Perspectives on non-governing board formation and participation
- Understanding the added value of building a non-governing board
- Strategies on how to promote volunteerism as a way to further your organization’s mission
This panel will be moderated by Marnie Berk, Director of Pro Bono Programs at NYLPI, and will feature as panelists Rob Acton, Principal and Founder of Cause Strategy Partners, Roy Haynes, Jr., Board Member of LIFT, and Kristin Moore, Junior Board Member of Public Prep.
