IMG_5374Despite branding themselves as ‘green,’ data submitted to New York State by private sanitation companies shows that they only recycle 19-22% of the waste they collect from hundreds of thousands of NYC businesses.  NYLPI and the Transform Don’t Trash NYC coalition are advocating for legislation that would make this chaotic industry more accountable and transparent, and lower the negative impact the industry has on our environment, our communities, and on workers.
