Comptroller Scott Stringer released a new report highlighting NYC Department of Education’s failure to meet state physical education (PE) mandates. The report finds nearly one-third of city schools have no full-time certified PE teacher, and 80 percent of co-located schools lack physical fitness space. In the report, the Comptroller supports City Council Intro 644, a PE reporting bill NYLPI and the Phys Ed for All Coalition are championing. The Comptroller’s press release highlights NYLPI’s efforts and can be found here.
